As the founder and CEO of Phillips & Company, Eric Phillips provides corporate executives, boards of directors and not-for-profit leaders management consulting, crisis communications counsel, and long-term reputation protection and risk planning services.
With more than two decades of experience in corporate America and U.S. government, Eric has deep experience leading large communications and C-suite teams across a wide variety of industries and policy spaces.
Prior to founding Phillips & Company, Eric served as an executive vice president at Edelman, where he managed the New York crisis and reputation risk team for the world’s largest strategic communications firm. He specialized in providing media relations and crisis management counsel to top executives in banking, insurance, higher education, health care, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, transportation, and philanthropy.
Prior to his time at Edelman, Eric served as press secretary for City Hall and the New York City mayor. As New York City government’s top spokesperson, Eric oversaw the daily communications of City Hall, 40 municipal agencies, and more than 100 communications professionals.
Eric has also served as a vice president at the political consulting firm SKDKnickerbocker, in addition to working as communications director for the Nassau County District Attorney’s office and as a legislative aide in the Wisconsin statehouse.
As a frequently cited political and media analyst, Eric has been featured in stories by The New York Times, Washington Post, New York Magazine, CNN, New York Post and Daily News, Politico, The Guardian, Eater, and The New Yorker, among others. Eric holds a master’s degree from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin. He lives in New York City.
